The idea for CasinosInCanada came out of a bad experience I had at an online casino a few years ago. I had played casually before but never cashed out a serious win. One Saturday night I got carried away, deposited more than I should have, and ended up with what felt like a big win. I queued the withdrawal, went out to celebrate, and slept it off without a worry.

By the next evening every withdrawal request had been cancelled. Support asked for ID, proof of address, and a photo of my credit card — the usual KYC pack. I sent everything and re-submitted the cashout. The next morning it was cancelled again, this time because "the verification specialist was off sick." They offered me a deposit bonus by way of apology.

What followed was a month of stalling. I re-sent the same documents more than ten times: the photos were the wrong format, then the wrong quality, then "missing," then "lost." Every conceivable excuse — short of a vet's certificate that my dog was healthy. After a week it was obvious they were dragging things out hoping I'd give up and play the balance back. In the end I got my deposits refunded but never saw the winnings.

That's when I realised, from personal experience, that Canadian players had almost no real protection online. Outside of Ontario's regulated iGaming market (AGCO / iGaming Ontario, launched April 2022), most online casinos serving Canadians are licensed offshore — Curaçao, Malta, Kahnawake, the Isle of Man — and your only recourse when something goes wrong is the operator's own complaints desk.

Casino "rankings" don't help much either: most rate every operator between 9 and 10 out of 10, only publish glowing reviews, and quietly delete anything negative. After my month of fighting for that withdrawal I decided to build the kind of site I'd wished existed at the time — one with real player feedback, a working complaints process, and a published blacklist. I pitched the idea to two friends, Paul (designer) and Mark (developer), and CasinosInCanada was born.

Our mission

Our mission

CasinosInCanada exists to protect the interests of Canadian players — and any visitor from outside Canada who lands here looking for honest information.

  • Protecting players' rights and interests.

Most casino sites put the operator first and the player last, especially when there's a big withdrawal on the line. We do the opposite. To make that practical, we run a set of services built around player protection:

Complaints — if an operator is delaying or refusing a payout, file a complaint with the full details. We forward it to the casino's representative and warn them that an unresolved case lands them on the blacklist.

Blacklist — when a casino fails to respond to a player's complaint, or our own investigation turns up fraud, it goes on the blacklist. We also list affiliate sites and streamers caught promoting scam operators. Any player can check a casino against the blacklist before depositing.

Trusted Casinos — a curated short-list of operators we vouch for. If you win at a Trusted casino and they refuse to pay, CasinosInCanada will cover the payment ourselves. Full rules are on the Trusted page.

Casino Reviews — over 1,400 online casinos that accept Canadian players, all in one place. Star ratings come from real users, not us; reviews are published instantly, with no moderation of negative feedback. Each casino carries a status badge — Players' Choice, Reliable Casino, New Casino, or Dubious Casino — so you can scan the listing at a glance.

Land-Based Casinos — reviews of every brick-and-mortar venue in Canada, sorted by province and city, including game floor, food, and on-site hotel where applicable. Read player reviews before you go, or ask the venue's official representative a question directly.

  • Player education.

You will not find "systems" or magic schemes for beating the casino on this site — they don't exist. Roulette can't be beaten by a betting pattern and slots can't be cheated. Casinos are designed so that, over time, the average player loses; the longer you play, the closer you get to that average. We say so plainly in every guide and article we publish.

Guides — practical, no-nonsense guides covering how to play the major games, how to choose a safe online casino, what to do when an operator won't pay, how to recognise problem gambling, and why responsible play matters.

Investigations — most blacklist entries come from user complaints, but our editors also run their own investigations into larger brands and the affiliate sites that promote them. Streamers who push unreliable casinos or spread bad gambling advice get the same treatment: we contact them first, then publish and blacklist if nothing changes.

Blogs — first-hand stories from our editors and from regular players: rare wins, tilt and recovery, the realities of playing long-term, and the everyday questions that come up around gambling.

Big Wins — daily wins from streamers and ordinary players, in both video and story format. The odds are against you in any online casino, but when a big hit does happen, this is where you'll see it.

  • A place to talk to other players.

From day one we wanted CasinosInCanada to be more than a one-way review site, so we built tools for players to talk to each other and to us:

Comments — every article and service page accepts comments. You can quote another user to start a thread, or ask the team a question directly on the page that prompted it.

Activities — a live feed of community actions across the site: new comments, new forum topics, new ratings. Useful when you want to see what's happening in real time.

Community Forum — our gambling forum, organised into three active sections:

Casino Discussions Q&A — open discussion of online and land-based casinos, with a built-in screenshot tool for sharing big wins across the site.

Casino Complaints — file complaints publicly and follow each case through to resolution; representatives from the operators participate directly.

Player's Topics and Chatter — start your own player blog, share your gambling experience, or join in on someone else's.

  • Entertainment.

Gambling is entertainment — entertainment with real risk and real consequences, but entertainment nonetheless. CasinosInCanada was built to inform and protect, but also to be a fun place to spend time:

Content — alongside the educational material, we publish lighter editorial: industry news, scandals, personality profiles, and behind-the-scenes pieces.

Slots — over 3,000 slots and casino games you can play for free, each with a detailed review, screenshots, and video. Rate the games, post your own review, and share screenshots of your sessions.
