Pragmatic Play's New Live Blackjack Update: Double After Split Now Available

Pragmatic Play has quietly but aptly updated its live blackjack tables with the Double Down After Split option. What does this mean in simple terms? If you've split cards – for example, you get two eights or deuces – you can now double down on one or both of these hands.

For those who play regularly or use strategies, this is quite a serious innovation. In the classic rules of blackjack, the ability to do a Double after a Split is considered the standard, and its absence in live versions was often annoying.

In some scenarios, doubling down after a split isn't just "convenience," it's the key to optimal play. For example, if you split deuces and get a nine to one of them, the ideal move is Double. Without this option, you'd just draw a card and that's it.

And it's trivially nice that Pragmatic Play doesn't give up on its live products and continues to develop them — not only releasing slots, but also improving card games. It's especially nice to see improvements in the direction of expanding the capabilities of players, and not another cut in the RTP.
