Salon de Jeux de Quebec Review
The Mega Center Beauport, the future home of the Salon de jeux de Québec, is owned by the Manitoba insurer Canada Life. Power Corporation owns shares in this company.
After an investment of $ 12 million and having turned its back on a Quebec promoter in favor of a Manitoban group, the new Salon de jeux de Quebec will finally open its doors at the Méga Center Beauport on November 29.
The current establishment, located in the Fleur de Lys shopping center, will cease welcoming customers as of November 15 in order to allow Loto-Québec to relocate all of its facilities, namely the 335 electronic devices.
The Salon de jeux de Québec will therefore be closed for two weeks. Loto-Québec ensures that the budget for the work has been respected, despite the increase in material costs in recent months. Management says it has relied mainly on Quebec products to carry out the construction.
Since August 2020, this move has caused a lot of media attention. The state-owned company was notably singled out for failing to launch a public tender to find its new location.
Loto-Québec and the government also had to defend the choice of this space at the Méga Center Beauport, which belongs to the Manitoba insurer Canada Vie. Power Corporation is one of the owners of this company.
So far, Loto-Québec has always refused to disclose the amount of the new rent, citing the fact that this information is of a commercial nature.
A petition, which had collected more than 1,000 signatures, had even been launched so that the Legault government would reverse it.
Over $ 55 million
Since 2007, due to moves and expansions, the Salon de jeux de Québec has cost more than $ 55 million. It has been in Fleur de Lys, owned by the Quebec group Trudel Alliance, since 2014.
Moreover, in 2020, the co-founders of Trudel Alliance, William and Jonathan Trudel, had difficulty digesting the reasons given by the government to justify the move of the Salon de jeux, while they are working on a $ 750 million project aimed at redeveloping the shopping center.
Let us recall that the Coalition d'avenir Québec made a commitment, during its 2018 election campaign, to move this offer to a sector that is not considered to be a vulnerable environment. This decision was made following a study carried out by the firm KPMG.
New environment
Loto-Québec argues that the new Salon de jeux de Québec, located at 847 rue Clemenceau, will have a "new playground in a modern environment and a welcoming decor, with a central bar", and that customers will be able to also “take advantage of an extra meal offer”.
The winners payment center will be open until November 12 in Fleur de Lys. Customers will be able to come to Beauport with an appointment as of November 16. Loto-Québec will also set up its administrative offices there for the Capitale-Nationale. About 120 people will work there.
"We are proud and excited to welcome customers in the modern, friendly and safe environment of our new games room, which will undoubtedly become a favorite entertainment venue in the region," said the general manager. from the Games Room, Pierre Maltais.
We spent several hours at the casino. We went a little further. Good selection of games. Wide range of prices. Not too much but has a good vibe. Would recommend for a few hours of fun.
This small casino, located in a shopping centre in the centre of Quebec, is clean but not easy to find and not very impressive. They have board games and seats.
After visiting many casinos in Ontario and Quebec, we found it to be disappointing, the layout was poor and although there were many cars, the selection was limited and the stakes were higher than other casinos, and there is also no fresh food available just to warm up in the microwave, one last thing is not free drinks unlike all the other casinos visited, by the way, not sour grapes that we did not lose.
I was expecting a smaller version of the casino, but that's not quite what it is. This is a mid-sized store that has slot machines. It was very clean but very difficult to find as it is located at the back of the mall. There are very few signs on the route and it is very difficult to find them if you have never been there. It was something that could be done in a matter of hours, but you definitely cannot compare it to a casino.
very pleasant to go to a games room with a modern decor that has nothing to envy to the casino. I still go there often, and I am very satisfied.
