How the base game plays
The base game uses 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 fixed paylines. Wins pay from left to right on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost reel, and only the highest win on each active line is paid. A Wild substitutes for regular pay symbols but not for GOAT symbols, and Wilds appear only in the main game. The GOAT symbols are the real setup pieces: Griffin, Gilberta and Gaston can appear on any reel, and up to five GOAT symbols can land in one spin. Public rule text does not give a full symbol-value ladder, so the exact low and premium payouts should be checked in the in-game paytable before real-money play.
How the Goatening mechanic works
Goatening is the collector round, not a normal scatter bonus. GOAT symbols in the main game can trigger it, and the powers attached to the collected goats decide which version of the round opens. The grid expands from 5x3 to 5x5 by default, or to 5x8 when Griffin's Expanding Rows power is active. The Cash Collector starts as a 2x2 area in the lower-left corner. Power Rings and Golden Cabbages carry cash values from 0.25x to 5x the total bet. Power Rings are always collected, even outside the active area. Golden Cabbages are harsher: they pay only if they land inside the collector zone, otherwise they disappear without adding anything.
The free spins round
The round starts with 5 free spins. During Goatening, paylines are switched off and all value comes from collected cash-prize symbols. Every four collected Power Rings can expand the Cash Collector. In the standard version, expansion to 3x3 adds 3 free spins, while later growth to 4x4 and 5x5 adds 2 spins each, with the total capped at 12. If Griffin is active, the grid can keep growing vertically to 5x8 and the total spin cap rises to 18. Once the collector reaches its final size, Power Rings stop appearing. There is no normal scatter retrigger shown in the rules; extension comes from the Power Ring meter instead.
How the Goat Powers feature works
The three goat powers are the best reason to care about the bonus. Griffin unlocks Expanding Rows, stretching the free spins grid beyond 5x5 and letting the collector reach 5x8. Gilberta adds Bounty Reward symbols, which can show Mini, Minor, Major and Grand values worth 10x, 50x, 200x and 1,000x the total bet, but only if they land inside the collector. Gaston activates Multipliers. When that power is active, collected values can be multiplied by 2x, 3x, 5x or 10x. The strongest sessions are the combined ones, where two or all three goat powers land together. The weak sessions are plain collector rounds with too few rings.
Bet limits and stake controls
The practical CAD stake range is roughly CA$0.30 to CA$160 per spin at current exchange rates. No Ante Bet is listed, and no Bonus Buy appears in the available rule data, so players have to reach Goatening through the base game. That is cleaner than selling the round for a large multiple, but it also means dry sessions are possible. The bigger control is RTP: play only after checking the in-game info screen, because the reduced builds are not a small shaving.

There is enough craft here to avoid a throwaway label, but not enough invention to call it a strong Play'n GO release. The collector expansion has real structure, and the three goat powers give the bonus several routes to a decent result. The base game looks like a waiting room, though, and the low-RTP builds drag the whole package down hard. Best for players who like collection bonuses and can verify the high-RTP version before staking real money.
- The 20,000x ceiling gives the title a large theoretical target without pushing the published model into extreme-volatility territory.
- Goatening has clear escalation through a 2x2 Cash Collector, four-ring thresholds and a possible 5x8 Griffin version.
- No Bonus Buy means the main round is not hidden behind a large purchase button.
- Confirmed RTP menus drop as low as 84.20%, which is an instant red flag.
- The base game mostly waits for GOAT symbols, so ordinary 20-line spins can feel thin.
- The bonus rules are busy enough that casual players may miss why Golden Cabbages die outside the collector.
- Early volatility labelling is inconsistent, so the in-game info screen matters more than any listing.

FAQ
GOAT symbols appear in the main game and can activate Goatening. The symbols are tied to Griffin, Gilberta and Gaston, so the collected goat type also decides which power can enter the free spins round. There is no fixed scatter-count trigger in the public rule text.
Golden Cabbages are not automatically collected. They award their cash value only when they land inside the Cash Collector's active area. If they land outside that zone, they are deactivated. Power Rings are more forgiving because the collector moves to gather them wherever they appear.
Yes. The best listed build is playable, but the reduced menus go much lower than a serious real-money player should accept. Open the in-game info screen before depositing or wagering. If the casino runs the lowest version, skip the game without overthinking it.
No Bonus Buy is shown in the rule data used for this review. That makes the game less aggressive than many modern collector slots, but it also means you cannot jump straight to the main round. You have to sit through the base game and wait for GOAT symbols.
In Ontario, look for the game only at regulated casinos that operate through the iGaming Ontario market and use approved supplier content. Alberta is moving into its regulated online market in 2026, and Play'n GO has already received AGLC supplier approval there. Offshore access is a different risk profile.
