Casumo takes on mkodo Technology to Strengthen its Presence in Ontario's iGaming Industry
Casumo is expanding its operations in Ontario's regulated online gambling and sports betting market. The operator recently announced its partnership with mkodo to integrate the GeoLocs geolocation verification solution into its business in the province, ensuring full compliance with geolocation requirements.
In April 2022, Ontario became the first Canadian province to open its online gambling market to third-party operators, resulting in numerous operators obtaining licenses to operate legally in the province. The goal of the iGaming sector was to prevent local bettors from using offshore websites and to retain a portion of the revenue within the province.
Casumo was granted entry into the Ontario iGaming market by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario in June 2022, and it launched its online operations in the province in November 2022. The company is now enhancing its online security with GeoLocs, a solution designed to address the geolocation challenges faced by the industry through seamless integration.

Mark Busuttil, Chief Product Officer at the Malta-based operator, stated that by selecting GeoLocs as their geolocation provider, they are confident in their ability to offer users a smooth and user-friendly experience that complies with regulatory requirements in Ontario. He added that the technology has played a crucial role in supporting the company's pursuit of licensing and operations in Ontario.
It's worth noting that GeoLocs has been utilized by mkodo's partners for more than a decade, providing a seamless user experience during the location verification process. Users can quickly verify their location directly within the app or website, eliminating the usual cumbersome location approval process.
Stuart Godfree, Managing Director at mkodo, expressed the brand's satisfaction in partnering with a leading operator to facilitate its iGaming launch in the province and expand the solution's popularity in the region. He further emphasized the company's eagerness to collaborate with the operator and offer the best possible user experience for geolocation in Ontario.
Ontario First Quarter Recap (Q1)
In July 2023, Ontario released its financial report for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2023-2024, covering the period from April 1, 2023, to June 30, 2023. During this time, the iGaming sector witnessed a total betting volume of over CA$14 billion, resulting in CA$545 million in revenue. The province had 920,000 active user accounts, with an average monthly spend of CA$197.
The majority of the betting volume came from digital casino games, including slots, live and computer-based table games, and peer-to-peer bingo, accounting for nearly CA$11.6 billion or 83% of total wagers in Q1. Betting on sports, eSports, and novelty bets contributed CA$2 billion or 14%, while peer-to-peer poker made up CA$350 million or 3% of the total.
Our Conclusion
With an RTP (Return to Player) as low as 70 percent, playing slots at such a venue would indeed be considered unwise. In Ontario, where discerning players seek better odds and fairer gameplay, Crypto Casino emerges as the smart choice. With its competitive RTP rates and a commitment to providing an enjoyable and equitable gaming experience, Crypto Casino offers Ontario residents a more rewarding and responsible gaming environment.
JamesTheKnowledgeable I’m excited about the Cake Bonanza promotion, but I’ve noticed some of LevelUp Casino’s games have pretty low RTPs. Seems like a lot of the bonus might just get eaten up by those lower payouts.
ThomasThePassionate The numbers are shocking, but what’s more alarming is the constant bombardment of gambling ads everywhere. It’s no wonder people are spending more. We definitely need a total ban on these ads to curb this addiction.
GeorgeTheDynamic Damn, here’s another one.
JasonTheResilient It’s great that we’re getting more games here in Africa, but if they’re lowering the RTP, it’s just another way to take more of our money. Why do we always get the short end of the stick?
sharonadams6l It's crazy how game providers like Playtech are cashing out huge profits while players keep chasing losses. These partnerships just mean more ways for them to squeeze money out of us. No surprise they’re extending their deals!
Andersondonna Oh come on, these mermaid slots of yours again. How much longer can this go on? It would be better if they came up with something new, not the same thing in 100500 variations. Mermaids is a complete bore, another clone.
PaulTheBully Holy shit, SteroSlots has really raised the stakes in this Kenneth Must Die! X32 365? What kind of space is this?! That's it, I won't be there, I don't believe in such luck
SusanTheCunning Well, those who fall for it and believe it—I personally don’t feel sorry for them. What’s the point in pitying fools?
DonaldTheRadiant Oh, they write about these clowns here too. They're everywhere now.
PaulTheJoyful Wow, so many of them…
LauraTheMysterious Alright, I’m going to start saving for a ticket to Portugal!
