Betsson Secures Brazilian Gaming License
Betsson AB Group has officially obtained a gaming license to operate in Brazil.
The company has been active in the Brazilian market for over a decade.
This development follows recent AML regulations introduced in the country.
Betsson AB Group has taken a significant step by securing an official gaming license from Brazil’s regulatory authority. This marks a new chapter in the company’s operations within the country, allowing it to provide gaming services in Brazil’s newly regulated market from 25 February 2025.
Having already established its presence in several South American countries, including Argentina, Colombia, and Peru, Betsson has been active in Brazil for more than ten years. With this license, the company strengthens its foothold in the region’s rapidly evolving gaming landscape.
Betsson President and CEO Pontus Lindwall expressed enthusiasm regarding the approval, stating:
“We welcome the introduction of a local regulatory framework in Brazil and are pleased to have obtained a license. This step aligns with our strategy to grow via geographical expansion, and we look forward to offering Brazilian customers a secure and high-quality gaming experience.”
The licensing announcement coincides with a wave of regulatory changes in Brazil. As of 1 January 2025, the country officially launched its online gaming and sports betting markets. Since then, multiple operators have secured official licenses, with the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) issuing 21 new fixed-odds betting authorizations earlier this month.
Additionally, last week, the SPA mandated stronger Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policies for all licensed operators following directives from the Ministry of Finance.
Additional Insights:
In early February, Betsson released its Q4 and FY 2024 financial results, reporting a 22% revenue increase year-over-year, reaching €1.1 billion ($1.15 billion).
Last month, the company renewed its sponsorship agreement with Argentina’s Boca Juniors football club, extending the partnership until December 2028.
In January, Betsson entered a strategic partnership with GamepIAI to enhance coverage of major football leagues.

Sickenings What a Chipmonkz annealed! x14180 is it even legal? I caught a maximum of x50 in Duck Hunters, and then I was happy like a child

Thunderaan 80% RTP? That’s robbery! Why even bother playing if the odds are stacked this badly?

CruzinCruz Poilievre had a massive lead, and now it's gone. Aligning with Trump was a terrible move—Canadians don’t want that kind of politics here.

KingDestroyXD It’s great to see Sweden protecting its players! GG.bet has been known for lowering RTPs, and it’s a relief to see them off the market. We need more action like this to ensure a fair gaming environment!

Regulation is always a good sign for players and businesses alike. Hopefully, other major operators will follow suit soon.
This could be a game-changer for sports betting in Brazil. Excited to see what Betsson brings to the table!
Betsson has been around for a long time in South America. It’s good to see them obtaining official recognition in Brazil.
Interesting timing with all the new regulations coming in. Looking forward to seeing how Betsson adapts to the AML requirements.
I hope this means better player protection and responsible gaming measures for Brazilian customers.
