Kalshi Faces Lawsuit over Possible Sharing of User Data
A class-action lawsuit has been filed against Kalshi in the United States. Three users of the platform claim the company may have shared information about their activity with advertising and analytics services without obtaining their separate consent.
According to the complaint, tracking tools from TikTok, LinkedIn, AppLovin, and Amplitude were used on Kalshi's website and mobile app. The plaintiffs say these services may have received information about user behaviour: which events they opened, which contracts they reviewed, and whether they went on to complete a trade.
The issue may extend beyond a history of actions within the platform. The lawsuit states that technical data may also have been transmitted to third parties, including device type, browser information, and the user's approximate location.
The plaintiffs maintain that they did not give separate permission for this collection and sharing of information. They also point to the registration process: in their account, Kalshi did not require new customers to separately confirm their agreement to the user agreement and privacy policy.
The plaintiffs are now seeking class-action status. In addition to compensation, they want the court to require Kalshi to revise how it collects, processes, and shares user data.
The platform itself has not yet publicly responded to the allegations. At this stage, these are claims made in the lawsuit, not an established violation.
