British bookmakers have 20 times fewer VIP customers

If you have ever heard about VIP customers in bookmakers, you know that these are the players who make large bets and receive special privileges from the casino or bookmaker - bonuses, personal service, various goodies. But over the past five years, these VIPs in Britain have decreased several times - by almost 95%.

What happened? In 2020, the British Gambling Commission (UKGC) decided to seriously tighten the rules to protect players and prevent money laundering through betting. Now, in order to get into the VIP segment, the player had to prove where he got the money from, that is, provide income documents. And bookmakers were obliged to make sure that these players did not bet more than a reasonable limit.

Another important point is that since then, players under the age of 25 have not been able to get into VIP programs. This is done so that young people do not become dependent and do not make too large bets.

As a result, there are now only about 90 VIP players per bookmaker, while five years ago there were almost 2000! A serious drop, right?

Why is it interesting for you, ordinary players? Firstly, the betting market has become safer and fairer – big money is now under stricter control. Secondly, the competition and the fight for ordinary players is intensifying, because bookmakers are less dependent on "whales" – large VIP bettors. This means more bonuses, promotions and offers for everyone.

Of course, if you like to make big bets and hope for VIP status with exclusive privileges, now it will be more difficult to get there. But in general, such changes make the game fairer and more transparent for everyone.
