Canadian Dollar at the Price of the U.S. Dollar: How Las Vegas Casinos Created a Tourism Boom with the “At Par” Program
Several well-known hotel and entertainment complexes in Las Vegas launched an exclusive offer that allowed them to attract thousands of Canadian tourists in just one month. These include downtown establishments such as Circa Resort and Casino, the D Las Vegas, and Golden Gate Hotel and Casino, where a real influx of guests from the neighbouring country has been recorded. These resorts joined forces to create a unique loyalty programme called "At Par." The essence of this special promotion is that for tourists from Canada, their national currency is treated as equal to the U.S. dollar.
Thanks to this unprecedented initiative, Canadian travellers can receive services at a rate of 1 U.S. dollar for every 1 Canadian dollar spent, without paying attention to the current daily exchange rates. This advantageous program, operating in three downtown complexes, removes one of the main financial barriers to travel, easing the burden on the travel, hospitality, and entertainment industries. Ultimately, "At Par" allows guests from Canada to focus exclusively on leisure, hospitality, and vibrant experiences.
The success of the promotion exceeded all expectations: in the very first month after launch, the three complexes welcomed more than 15,000 visitors. Even more impressively, the program generated a massive 2,700 hotel room bookings for this trio of resorts.
Derek Stevens, the owner and CEO of the resorts Circa, the D, Golden Gate, as well as the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center complex, did not hide his enthusiasm about the results in a press release. According to him, the "At Par" program created a strong momentum for Canadian guests from the very beginning, which is of great personal importance to him because of his long-standing connection with Canada.
Stevens also emphasised that they continue to build on this success. As part of the promotion, tourists were given the opportunity to purchase tickets at a favourable rate for two April concerts by the popular Canadian DJ and producer Excision. Inviting such an artist, according to Stevens, perfectly combines real financial benefits with large-scale entertainment, giving Canadians even more reasons to come to Downtown. The performances, which promise an exceptional experience, will take place on April 24 and 25, 2026, at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center.
The unique offer across the three casinos and hotels will last until August 31, 2026. The exchange-rate discount program applies to certain gambling games, hotel room stays, drinks, and entertainment venues.
Shut up and take my money!!!
They should have offered such discounts to locals instead.
Yeah, sure, 1 to 1. There are probably hidden fees, or they doubled the room prices before the promotion. We know these casino tricks. The only free cheese is in a mousetrap.
