“Gambling Has Won - It’s Everywhere”: Asmongold Calls Out Twitch for Double Standards Over Gambling Ads
Popular content creator Asmongold (known on Twitch under the nickname zackrawrr, with an audience exceeding 2.2 million people) delivered a sharp critique of the policies of the "purple platform." During a stream on December 15, he accused Twitch's administration and streamers cooperating with the service of outright hypocrisy.
Notably, the statement itself was made during a restream on the Kick platform, which is co-owned by the founders of the major crypto casino Stake.
The core of Asmongold's complaint boils down to a policy of double standards. On the one hand, Twitch actively bans streamers from advertising and broadcasting certain gambling websites and unlicensed casinos. On the other hand, the platform itself has begun forcibly showing viewers promotional ads for sportsbooks and fantasy sports services through its built-in advertising network.
The streamer emphasised that any content creator with monetization and ads enabled on Twitch de facto becomes an accomplice in promoting gambling. In his opinion, all discussions about the "moral side" of the issue within the streaming community no longer make sense, as the line has been completely erased.
"Gambling has won, and now it's everywhere!" Asmongold concluded, calling on the community to stop pretending that Twitch has any special ethical stance when it comes to gambling.
I used to come to streams just to chill and play games… And now it’s banners everywhere, spinning wheels, odds. It’s already sickening. Give me back my 2015, when we just watched Dota and enjoyed life :(
Guys, you don’t understand the difference. Sports betting and slots are different things! Betting at least requires some skill and analysis. Casinos are pure scams for suckers. So, Twitch has the right to filter this content. Don’t talk nonsense here.
What kind of “analysis” are you talking about? My brother lost an apartment and a car on those “skill-based bets.” It’s the same addiction, just viewed from a different angle.
He said everything right.
He’s sitting on Kick, a platform that literally exists on money from the Stake casino. Is this like “bees versus honey”? It’s funny watching them throw crap at each other while looting millions.
What difference does it even make? Twitch turned into a dumpster a long time ago.
