Ontario AGCO temporarily revokes PointsBet licence over Jontay Porter case bet-reporting failures
In the Canadian province of Ontario, an unprecedented event for the legal betting market took place. On February 12, the local Alcohol and Gaming Commission (AGCO) took radical measures, issuing an official order to the bookmaker PointsBet to temporarily revoke the licence.
According to the AGCO order, the operator failed to record and report certain wagers to the regulator. These bets relate to the 2024 federal investigation into wagers placed on games involving former NBA player Jontay Porter, who has since been banned for life by the league.
The AGCO order describes initial communications in which PointsBet stated that it had not accepted such wagers, with the operator subsequently confirming the wagers after further regulator inquiries. The order forms the basis of the temporary licence revocation.
PointsBet has 15 days to appeal the AGCO decision.
PointsBet has been approached for comment; this article will be updated if the operator issues a public response.
Damn, guys, and I have a withdrawal for 350 bucks hanging there. What will happen now?
In 5 days they will release all and you will withdraw your pennies. If they do not file an appeal and do not start dragging their feet in the courts. But in general, keeping money in such garbage dumps is not to respect yourself.
Lol, 5 days in total? Funny
