The CS2 market crash is not Game Over!
Today I came across strange news: some guy committed suicide due to the fact that the prices for knife skins in Counter-Strike 2 collapsed. At first, it seems like nonsense. But it turned out that hundreds of people literally "invested" in these pixels, using them as an analogue of a bank account. They did not play with them. They kept money in them, like in crypto or NFTs. And now the "asset" collapsed.
This story is painfully reminiscent of the classic collapses of the crypto market. Do you remember how the cue ball flew from 70 thousand to 40? Then, too, there was a wave of news about suicides. People could not withstand the losses.
The most ironic thing is that now the bitcoin (at the time of writing) is trading around 110 thousand. That is, those who took their own lives simply did not wait for the rebound. I'm sure it'll be the same with those damn knives. The market always finds a balance, and panic is the worst adviser.
From skins to slots: the same psychology
Now, let's be honest: how do these "investments" in skins or scam coins differ from gambling?
Nothing. It's the same psychology. A person who invests all the money in a drawn knife and a person who tries to "squeeze" a slot in an online casino, draining the entire deposit, are essentially the same character. Both believe in "tusemun" (growth to the skies) or in "inevitable drift".
As players, we know that feeling. When you're sitting in a casino, whether it's at 'Fallsview' in Ontario or online at your favourite site, your bankroll melts away. You start to win back, you raise the stakes, you take the bonus... And here you are at zero. Full "full drop".
And at this moment, the brain draws the most terrible pictures. Debts, problems, shame. But the story with the guy because of skins is a harsh reminder: no money is worth your life.
The Philosophy of the "New Beginning"
I don't understand people who get into the noose because of money. Yes, there are desperate situations. But, by and large, even if you lose a ridiculous amount of $50,000 by industry standards, or even a million, it's not the end. This is money. They can be earned, in the end, stolen (just kidding... or not).
Even if you lost 50 billion... Although, if you could lose them, then you were able to earn them somehow. Strain and try again. And if not, find a warm place and a chill.
Many of us, in our lives, have experienced the same "full drop" just in everyday life. We left everything in the past life – things, connections, money, people, houses – and began to "loot" in a new place from absolute zero. And nothing, they survived.
You need to be able to give up junk and money, especially if you take risks, if you go for profit.
Losing is not the end, it's a restart
Therefore, guys (and girls), if you suddenly find yourself in a situation where you have lost everything - in a casino, at betting, in crypto or even in fucking CS skins - don't get excited.
Treat it as an opportunity to start over. In games, there is such a term as "full drop". This is when you are killed, and absolutely everything falls from your corpse. Yes, it's a shame. Yes, you will have to run around with a wooden sword again. But it's not the end of the game, you're just starting over.
And besides, there's always a chance that what you've invested in will rebound tomorrow. And you're already dead. Silly, isn't it?
I still don't understand, what kind of knives? Like which ones are in the game? And did they give money for them?
"Start looting again" is a powerful thought. I had it when I moved to Montreal. Really with one suitcase. And nothing, he got up. It's all in my head.
The author is right. - go to work. Or go steal. But don't whine. And then there are infantiles.
Comparing skins to bitcoin... Well, that's it. Skins are just pixels that Valve can stupidly delete tomorrow. And crypto is a technology. Although yes, there are enough fuckers in both places.
I myself poured almost everything that I saved on the truck into the slots. I thought, fuck, I'll hang myself. I sat for 3 days, drank. And then it let go. Well, he leaked and drained. "Full drop", as the author said. I went to a second job, in six months I won it off. And hanging yourself because of money is the lot of the weak.
Straight to the point. Money in the garbage.
