Wildz and FC Schalke 04 agree to a two-year sponsorship agreement

Wildz Casino has recently signed a two-year sponsorship deal with German football club FC Schalke 04, marking a push to expand its brand visibility in sports. This agreement will place the Wildz logo prominently at Schalke's Veltins-Arena and on the club's social media platforms. However, for a brand that was once at the top of the casino world, one might argue that Wildz's priorities have shifted from players to profits.

Sponsoring sports teams might increase exposure, but it also raises ethical concerns. When famous athletes promote online casinos, especially to young fans, it mirrors the way some streamers irresponsibly target minors, promoting gambling using "candy wrappers" or gimmicks. This form of advertising risks normalising gambling in ways that could be harmful to younger audiences, blurring lines of responsible promotion.

Wildz was once highly rated by players, partly for its strong RTP (Return to Player) offerings. Yet, in recent years, it has reduced RTPs rather than investing in better gameplay experiences for users. A focus on raising RTPs could create a fairer, more appealing environment for players—a more customer-centred move than funding high-profile sports sponsorships.

FC Schalke 04 CEO Matthias Tillmann has commented that the partnership emphasises "fair play and the fun of the game," aligning with the ethos of Wildz. However, if the casino truly wants to support fair play, prioritising competitive RTPs and player benefits over flashy sponsorships might speak louder to a fair gaming experience.
