Arizona Imposes $50,000 Daily Ceiling on Lottery Ticket Purchases
The Arizona State Lottery has introduced a strict rule: now one participant - whether an individual or a group - cannot buy tickets for more than $50,000 in one day. The decision is directed against lottery syndicates that buy tickets in bulk, leaving ordinary players with less chance of winning big.
The organizers emphasise: if the limit is exceeded, the violator risks being left without a legally due prize. To monitor compliance with the rule, the following will be used:
- recordings from CCTV cameras in retail outlets;
- terminal transaction data;
- information received directly from retailers;
- other analytical tools that allow you to track bulk purchases.
Experts believe that the tightening is directly related to a high-profile episode in Texas: in 2023, one syndicate purchased 28.5 million tickets worth $28.5 million and eventually took the $95 million jackpot.
Representatives of the Lottery emphasise that the innovation will preserve the principle of equal opportunities and increase confidence in the game among ordinary participants.
Yes, even if they set a limit of $10, I will still win for love
Like they care about us, but in fact they just insure themselves against large payments
It seems to me that honest people don't care - no one takes more than a couple of dozen tickets anyway
And how will they calculate? Camera? Base? I feel that there will be "left" schemes
50 k per day?! I wouldn't spend that much in a year
