Responding to Patron Wishes

Saad Fadl-Alla, the general manager of Starlight Casino New Westminster, noted that patrons had expressed a strong desire for a poker room, and the establishment has now fulfilled that wish. To celebrate the launch, the casino is hosting a charity poker tournament on October 12, 2023. Fadl-Alla expressed the team's enthusiasm for adding poker services to their already diverse gaming options.
The tournament promises to be a star-studded event, with participants including Mayor Patrick Johnstone, former professional poker player Matt Jarvis, Canadian pickleball champion Steve Deakin, New West councillor Ruby Campbell, Musqueam Indian Band Chief Wayne Sparrow, MMA fighter Gary Mangat, and actors Aaron Douglas, Ryan Robbins, and Aleks Paunovic. Joel McCready, a former National Lacrosse League player and current senior director of lacrosse operations with Canucks Sports and Entertainment, along with Chris Sabat, an account executive with the BC Lions Football Club, will also join the tournament. Mike Cameron and Chad Black of New Westminster Fire and Rescue Services are expected to attend as well.
The casino has extended an invitation to locals to witness the poker action, with the tournament kicking off at 6 p.m. Furthermore, the new poker room will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. on Sundays through Thursdays and operate around the clock on Fridays and Saturdays. Notably, it will be the only casino in British Columbia to offer 'No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em' with stakes ranging from CA$2 to CA$3 and single blind 'Limit Omaha' at CA$5.
